If you’re currently renting, you need to give notice to your landlord that you’re going to be moving out. In most states, if you have a month to month lease then you only need to give 30 days notice. If you have a yearly lease, you need to give 60 days notice before your lease term ends if you’re planning to move out. For instance, if your lease ends October 1, you need to let the landlord know by August 1 if you are going to be renewing your lease or are moving.
